If a shoplifter runs ...

... the policy says we let them go. You read it here first.

Prompted by this post about Wal-Mart customers who jumped an off-duty police officer trying to detain a shoplifter (read the original story at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) over at thewritingonthewal.net, I've been asked to weigh in on Wal-Mart's theft policies.

One of the only things I remember from my first few days of cashier training was the manager at the time telling us "if someone puts a gun to your head, give them the money. We can replace the money. We can't replace you. If a shoplifter runs, let them run. It is someone else's job to chase them."

Whose job is it? Well. OK. We used to have two positions for associates called "Loss Prevention." Two guys who wore regular clothes and walked around the store and snooped on people and watched cameras. The whole nine yards.

We used to get regular visits from the Regional Loss Prevention dude, who was six three and scary in his own right. He spoke at cashier meetings and turned out to be very friendly if you didn't have your fingers in the till. If you ever saw him when there wasn't a meeting scheduled, you knew someone was going out in steel bracelets.

Anyway
. Before the two Loss Prevention guys we had left, one of them gave me the scoop on their jobs. This is second-hand information, make of it what you will:

1. Wal-Mart Loss Prevention associates were only authorized to do "takedowns" with management approval. Otherwise, the thief was to be allowed to walk out of the store if all other security countermeasures (aggressive customer service, security tags, et. al.) failed
2. Wal-Mart carried insurance policies on each Loss Prevention Associate in the event they were injured in a takedown AND to pay for injuries to an alleged thief in the event of a takedown.

The "Loss Prevention" posts were "redefined" to become "Asset Protection." One in-store position was cut. The district Loss Prevention position job was left unfilled when the person in the post moved on.

All in-store Asset Protection posts became more about keeping an eye on internal spots for employees to steal than to stop shoplifters. For about 13 months, no one was actually in our store walking the sales floor checking for shoplifters - other than the overworked, underpaid and entirely-not-giving-a-flying-fudge associates. Which is how we hit $2.7M in shrink for 2006. Baby, baby, that ain't no lie. Bye, mer-chan-dise, bye!

So now we have someone protecting the assets, but not preventing the losses. This is how it works at the House of Wal.

Everyone, from Management down to Loss Prevention/Asset Protection, has one thing to say about regular associates wanting to "help out" and tackle a suspected shoplifter. "DON'T DO IT." By all means, go up to them, talk to them, offer to help them, give some aggressive customer service, but DO NOT CHASE OR TACKLE THEM IF THEY RUN, FIGHT OR PUT UP A STRUGGLE.

Nobody ever said anything official, but word was that Wal-Mart's bean counters felt that the cost of paying insurance policies on two associates to do loss prevention, plus pay out in the event they injured someone or got injured, plus the obligatory "Wal-Mart Loss Prevention hurt my back lawsuits," plus their salary and benefits was just too much.

Too much compared to what? Compared to the cost of writing off the shrink and excusing it on the corporate balance sheet as a valid cost of doing business. So there's no real money lost - because it has already been accounted for.

Let's see. One way involves paying salary, benefits, insurance and potentially lawyers and lawsuits. The other just involves a bit more paperwork (and work for the Claims associates) on top of the shrink that was already happening.

And really the bean counters said, every Wal-Mart associate is supposed to always be on the lookout to prevent shoplifters by providing such aggressive, excellent customer service.

Uh-huh. Remind that to the woman in Fabric who caught a woman slitting open DVDs with a box-cutter. When she confronted her, the woman held out the box-cutter and said "Whachu you gonna do b****?"

About six months ago, we finally got another Asset Protection person, and policy changed yet again to have the Asset Protection spend at least a nominal amount of time on the sales floor.

But no one is to tackle a shoplifter. Not Asset Protection. Not management. Not Buddha. Not Jesus. Not Kali. Not Shiva. Not Brigham Young. Not Steve Young. Not Cthulu (although it may be moot if he is in the game). NO ONE.

So, really, I'm not shocked that no one jumped in to help the cop.

Actually, I'm not shocked the customers joined in. If our ghetto-trash customers saw a brawl with a cop, they'd probably jump to help out whoever was getting arrested too!

The whole "no takedown" thing could very well be one of those policies that no one really knows, or that changes from region to region, as I've seen a few people dropped on their heads by the LP people at my store.

Old news concludes here. A must read.

If I had been that cop, someone would have gotten shot. PERIOD it's called assault on a police officer, and self defense.

Unknown said...

Self defense only applies on the same level you are being attacked. You can't shoot someone for kicking your ass. You can only kick their ass worse.

I can understand Wal-Mart not allowing their regular store employees to chase down shoplifters. Most businesses have that same policy to avoid physical harm coming to their employees. What I don't get is why Wal-Mart doesn't spend more money on security. Does anyone other than meth-heads shop there?

Lilith Parker said...

When I worked at Best Buy (years ago), the LP policy was much more severe. We had at least two LP guys at the door on every shift, and they were encouraged to stop customers who had large bags or puffy coats to be sure that said customers didn't have anything hidden. They also checked the contents of shopping bags against receipts to make sure you were only walking out with stuff you paid for.

If a shoplifter had a deadly weapon, we were to let them go and call the cops. Otherwise, the employee who saw the crime in progress would call a "code blue" over the loudspeaker, the LP guys would stand in front of the door and any available employees would surround the shoplifter.

That was what they taught us, anyway. I didn't work there long enough to ever see the policy in action.

(Love your blog!)

IANAL, but at the moment she confronted her, the woman held out the box-cutter and said "Whachu you gonna do b****?" I think shoplifting became armed robbery. That's when you get cameras rolling (if they aren't already) and call the cops.

DolfanDad said...

IN all fairness walmarts LP policy seems like the better business move. Think of how much it could cost them for all that insurance, lawsuits, etc. Compare that to the shrink every year they budget for. I understand why they do it. Luckily most of the trash who work there might not understand that. But in my mind it seems if someone's morals were low enough, they could use wal-mart as the house of free stuff!! Which many already do as evident by the five finger friday posts.

Anonymous said...

Seems everywhere WalMart is ghetto follows. I do live in a very affluent area, though I live in the lower middle class section, not in the gated community inside a gated community where a horse is worth more than the avarage shopping mall, ahem, and the WalMart here (across the street from a gated community with million dollar homes) I will not go to alone even during the day. Night time no way even with an armed gaurd in an armored vehicle. It has nothing to do with skin color because the thugs are from all nationalities. It's a shame people have lost their sense of decency, restraint, honor etc.

Anonymous said...

The first line doesn't make any sense. When you said "who jumped an off-duty copy trying" did you mean "who jumped in as an off-duty cop was trying"?

Anonymous said...

I read your entire posting, then I realized what you were trying to say in your first line. Sorry for my confusion in the last remark.

I'd still change "who jumped an off-duty copy trying" to "who jumped an off-duty cop as he was trying" though.

I've chased people down who tried to walk out on their bills, and when I worked for dollar general I chased crackheads through the parking lot. To hell with the rules, I'm not getting stuff stolen from me on my shift.

Wal-Mart's policy is pretty damn close to Target's policy. When I worked there, we were told if we saw anyone shop lifting to let them leave, and if they demanded money hand it over. The weird thing is we had an Assets Prevention dude, in full uniform, badge, handcuffs and the whole 9 yards but I never saw him do anything other than sit around looking bored. Now working as a Security Guard the only real authority I have is to call the police and write an incident report.

Anonymous said...

I am a Walmart Asset Protection and I will be the first to tell you we still apprehend, we still "takedown" shoplifters. The only big change is there are fewer of us. roughly 2 to 3 per store instead of 5 or more when it was Loss Prevention

Anonymous said...

I am a walmart asset protection associate, and yes, we do "takedowns," if you resist after we identify ourselves and ask you politely to step aside. Should you continue to resist, we employ "reasonable force" to subdue you, and if you still wanna be an ass about it, I'll just cuff ya. We walk the floor, and we see you when you think no one sees you :)

Anonymous said...

I am an AP in the Tulsa area and we don't " take down" shoplifters if they resist we " redirrect" them usually to the floor with a fist or spear tackel but it is always redirrection. lol Lesson is if you don't steal you don't get a spear tackel

I'm an APA and work in Central Florida, rotating between four stores. All of them are in bad parts of town and we bust people every single day, all day long. Last year we apprehended almost 500 people. I LOVE when people think we can't touch them or whatever BS rumers are going around. I will get in your face, grab you by the arm, and ID myself. You choose to go willingly, I will simply escort you to my office, maintaining a tight grip on your upper arm and wrist. If you want to be a jack-ass and run or fight me, you get that ass beat. NO ONE, not one single person has EVER got away from myself or my parter that has resisted or tried to run. We don't even give anyone a chance to run, because we are up in your face and in front of you, before you have any clue as to what is going on. My partner and myself are over 500lbs combined and have both wrestled/MMA for many years. Don't believe these BS rumors that you can steal from us and get away with it. We NEVER let people go for stealing from us. You will loose, I promise.

I'm glad to see alot of APA's representing themselves here... I'm an APA in a high crime area in upstate New York and its good to see that i'm not the only APA who sticks it to all of the thugs and ORC's we come across. Good hunting to you all - go ruin somebody's day!!!

Hey Hey! APA in Colorado here - Amen to my AP brothers and sisters. Wal-Mart has one thing on ANYONE with ill intent. ORGANIZATION. Let em think we can't take em down. WE GOT SYSTEMS IN PLACE BABY! The surprise is ALWAYS the best. Keep in mind, in a store that makes over a million a week, someone is watching you ALL THE TIME. It's funny to see all these people's "methods" that we see and BUST FIVE TIMES A DAY. Good luck, thieves - You got slim chances.

Anonymous said...

Hey Hey shoplifter here. Seems like you guys suck where I live. We get alot out of the store weekly. So for you guys thinking you're the shit, think again boys. You guys are so retarded. hahaha you make me laugh.

I am a Wal-Mart APA and i'll tell you that most of the stuff mentioned isn't true and that doesn't only run in my store but it runs in my market! If someone goes to fight me I take them down and if someone goes to run I get them because resisting is one of the criteria that will get you prosecuted quick fast and in a hurry!

I personally witnessed a shoplifter being apprehended by a Wal-marts loss prevention member. The shoplifter was a middle aged lady and the loss prevention member looked to be in his 30's. He kind of reminded me of a bar room bouncer with his head shaved and all. The alleged shoplifter went with him willingly and complied to everything he asked but he seemed to get a rush off of being rude, nasty and physically manhandling her - going as far as fondling her breast in front of others including myself. I wash shocked and sickened at his actions. What kind of people do Wal-marts employ for these kind of positions? He was definately not professional acting and truthfully, just as the lady should be charged with shoplifting - I can name several things he should be charged with plus somebody needs to take him out and give him a good old fashioned ass whipping. She was wrong - but he was just as wrong....maybe more because he was filthy with his actions and they were not necessary. I choose not to shop at Wal-marts after being exposed to this.

Well I can say that Store 3525 in Puyallup Washington went hands off no hand restraints and then they hit a record shrink of 2.6 MIL and what did they do blamed it on the APC and the APAs and cleaned house. Not to mention the stupidity of getting rid of the locking game case and leaving other high dollar items unlocked. On another note its kind of hard to do your job as AP when your store is constantly paging Andy in Photo please call .. or Andy in Photo please come to HBA..WTF a photo associate going to a non-photo area lets watch for someone that is talking to an associate that knows the lay out of the store now and we will know who the AP guy/gal is. Come on Wall-mart pull your head out of your ass. and stop firing your AP's that are busting there ass to do their job and please stop firing people until you investigate the report that you got from another AP about an AP trying to get the AP that reported it to write a false report, I mean come on he says that to try and save his job when he knows he is under investigation for time theft and internal theft and helping his friends steal.

Anonymous said...

I know its not on this subject but, I just got signed of yesterday, and sure enough I did a badd stop. I didn't see them select the item but I saw them conceal igt, I followed them and stop them come to find out they r under 15 and wouldn't produce the items. So I let them go cause they were to young and I can't call the cops will they fire me???

APA store 0947 and 0158 in TX here. I always do everything I can do to convince them to come willingly. However, if that fails I go hands-on. I also enjoy the look of surprise when I grab a good hold on a shoplifter who thinks I'm not allowed to touch them. I never cuss, degrade, threaten, or harass a suspect as that is just plain unprofessional. I am the epitome of polite, both before and after I use my "reasonable force to limit the movements of a shoplifting suspect." Basically I'm an easy going guy who gets along with almost everyone. I actually have friends that the first time we met I redirected them face first into the pavement.

Walfarts ap's are a complete joke. I'm a professional thief who has been living off walfart for about 20 years. Yes believe it I bought 2 houses a boat and many other things from the fruits of brain dead wana be cops aka walfart ap. Ha! Maybe if you guy's had half a brain you wouldn't be chasing people around a store for 10 bucks an hour! Get a life you fuckin idiots!

Anonymous said...

Yea walmart is a joke.. Me and my friend stole some stuff the other day and when the ap faggots tried to stop us at the doors we ran. They chased us and 1 guy thought he was bad until I stuck a .40 in his face. The little bitch let go real quick fuckin pussy.. They better watch who they grab on or they're liable to wind up face first on the ground for good...

Anonymous said...

To the last guy, you're also liable to end up in jail for life if you pull that trigger, is it worth it? As an walmart ap if you pull a gun on me yeah ill let you go...that's what the cameras are for, it's not worth getting killed to take you down when I have you on camera for armed robbery.

Oh and if I ever saw you outside of walmart premises, I would Insure that your gun your mouth and your legs never worked properly again.

You LP guys are always talking so tough on here. It's actually sad. You were obviously bullied as a kid or as an adult could never earn anyone's respect. And you know you could never hack it as a cop. So, you resort to talking tough about how you'll put someones "face in the pavement." And how about this idiot LP on here who posted bragging about his MMA skills. Are you kidding me? If you LP's had any real guts you'd be stealing too, instead of settling for such ridiculous pay. And no, I'm not a shoplifter, but after reading these lame-ass LP toughguy posts I'm now cheering for the shoplifters.

Amen, brother! These Loss Prevention guys talk like they're Navy SEALS. Even ol' Chuck Norris trembles at the thought of a "hands-on takedown." Lol

shoplifter here!! ive been rippin off walmarts for quite a while now. im not getting into specifics but i have been very successful. Walmart APs or whatever they are called are EASY to spot. You just need to be suspicious of all "customers" around you, dont get greedy, be confident, and know the state laws. Also with so many walmarts around its easy to rip one off and not return for several months. good luck everybody!

Anonymous said...

You shop lifters are pathetic. Get a job and buy shit like normal people!! And to the AP's I'm thankful for what you do because for what you are able to stop makes prices stay lower at least.. And for that I'm thankful. I don't think you should be bragging about shoving people's faces into pavement because I know your not supposed to have the right to do that. If they right you or run I was told by an AP manager that you are to let them go. The next part is to deal with the cameras not get Walmart sued because you thought you would play the tough guy and tackle the big bad shoplifter.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone been fired for missing unconcealment? Anyway, all I got to say to all the shoplifters commenting is that "everyone eventually gets caught, and there is a whole jail house full of um that thought they woulnt" so make my job easier, keep coming back, bigger and badder so I can nail your ass, you will eventually slip up

Anonymous said...

True I did get caught as I mentioned earlier but had that guy not been a asshole I would not have taken my revenge and put them both in the hospital so be nice Mr. Asset Protection

Anonymous said...

I don't condone stealing, and the big black guys with yellow shirts at my Walmart are chill with me, but I think getting shot for minimum wage stupid. Getting stabbed because you "take down" someone stealing a $20 DVD? It's just like armored car guards, it's not your money, it's not worth dying over.

I don't care if you and your partner weigh 500lbs, a 230 grain JHP will put both of you out, and do you think Walmart is going to take care of your family. Shit even a 125gr 9mm

Anonymous said...

By the way, Walmart takes insurance policies out on their regular employees. So when they die, Walmart gets paid and the dead person's family gets nothing. I'd think about that if I were you. It's not your money, you don't get to keep it of you catch the shop lifter. What do you get? It's no coincidence that most AP and LP people you see at walmart are lacking in the IQ area and not lacking in the LB area. They don't care if you die, and it's not the end of the world if some asshole steals a $300 TV. Your life, I hope, is worth more than $300. Cause people get shot all the time, for $60 or less.

Im 28 year old single mother and full time college student. If you were to see me walking into a walmart guaranteed you would notice me however the fact that I am going to be acquiring between $600-$800 worth of merchandise upon my departue from the store would be the very last thought to enter your mind. However please do not miscontrue this as bragging this is a fact that I most certainly not proud of and most definitly do not want to teach my two children. Its wrong and I have no means of justifying it in any way for it is a cowardly and lazy act on my part and does not excuse my actions. Now with that aside I have an extreme distaste for walmart and its policies along with its extreme mistreatment of its employees (once again not justyfing my wrong doings merely stating my OPINION) I find asset protection most definitly a necessary commodity for any business but believe walmarts to be a joke. Those that are AP whom are proud of "taking down ghetto scum" and brag about how you will and have beaten people down who try to resist need to remember no matter how you slice it your authority in walmart is basically the equivalence of that of the 16 year old cashier in the speedy check out lane. Your not a cop your a walmart employee reality check yourself quick before one day some shoplifter does it for you. And for those bragging about shoplifting grow up its sad and pathetic how someone could be proud of stealing it takes nothing to steal but someone who breaks their back day in and day out to provide for their family has my admiration and are the ones i most revere. And whats their to brag about? The $50 of stuff you shoved down your pants? I have gotten both local walmarts for $50,000 cash (no I have never held up a store they give it willingly trust me) and I can tell you right now that im pathetic and need to set a better example as a mother and its just sad. But I am writting to say that I vow to never do these things from this day on because I realize that my future with my family is much more important that I am better than all that and hopefully you will realize that your worth more too.

I have stolen and also been a LP. I have been caught and also gotten away with it. I am also ex Special Forces and do alot of stuff just to get the rush agian. Now am I proud of stealing no, most stuff I take back anyways a few days later and leave somewhere in the store. To all the LP faags, you may blind side me with a spear tackle but when I turno over you better hope to god there are 5 or more of you cause im going to put you in a choke hold or rape choke and your not going to get out of it. I fought Iraqi's hand to hand to the death and I am still here. Your not going to win, and sometimes I black out when I rage and cant stop my self. So is it better to live another day or lose your life over some dumb 40 bucks that the company would write off or just make another sale to get back? No it isnt, I would say just do your job and just turn people into the cops. and also if you try and be big bad loser with a dumb job I will put you in your place and make sure you remember it! Im not saying im the biggest guy in the world but I was trained to kill and trained very well. With 2 wars going on for over 10 years each you never know who has been trained to fight or kill and there are a few who enjoy doing so. Also most vets would get away with hurting or killing as we can claim PTSD and didnt hear you say anything to us. Just saying

The plant was my last item. They tell me to follow. I do. They lead me to an office. Were a big dike grabs my arms & says were is your reciept. I tell them i have not checked out. She grabs me shoves me in the office. I pull away & shove back. Saying wth is your problem what did i do. They are yelling saying sit down. I stand & say you have no right to touch me. They replay o ya i do. This whole time. I am being physically attacked as well. Fighting back. They never say much but try to restrain me. Giving me no explanation for there physical forceful behavior. After nearly 10 minutes of fighting.a manager shows up. Seeing them pulling my hair and letting them touch me and pin me to the wall. She does nothing. Im yelling..saying wtf is goin on and why the hell do they think they can touch me. Nothing is said or proclaimed. Finally i had enough & fight.shove. Push my way out. & because i was in so much rage. I ran out & took off. Days later i get a detective calling me to turn myself in & for the basket i left behind i am being charged wth theft. I have court in march. I too am wanting to fight this. Tho i too dont know the proper steps. Thought id let you know you are not alone.

Walmart is a trashy place to work in regards to how the associates are treated, let alone looked upon. However, the employees are generally not trashy people at all. By Florida state law any one working in asset protection/ lose prevention has every right by law to use any amount of force necessary to detain a suspected shop lifter until law enforcement arrives. With that being said if your not 100% that the suspect of interest has stolen merchandise, and they don't have any thing that's a bad stop, which opens the company that asset protection/ loss prevention associate works for to law suits.

How is it that a loss prevention can forcefully grab a female outside of the store b.c the thought i was shoplifting..when i had 2 guys forcefully grab my shoulder and cause me to have a shoulder injury being a 110lb female when 2 guys came running out the door..i would consider that assult or battery.

Not accurate. You may use the minimum level of force available to you that will result in an end to the threat on your person. If you are incapable of "kicking their ass worse" it is within your legal right to use a weapon.

I honestly didn't think LP had the right to put hands on you unless they were off duty or retired law enforcement. Well I was wrong. But they had a huge surprise. I live in Florida and have been doing a little scam lately not proud of it and have gotten away with it at least 20 times. Today I went to a Wal-Mart I've never went to and tried again making sure I was in the blind spot most Wal-Mart's have. (Shoe department) I can almost guarantee they didn't see me conceal anything but had a good feeling I did because I no longer had items on me. Anyway I go to walk out the door and this big beefy motherfucker flashes some card and said you're coming with me and grabs my upper arm and squeezed as hard as he could. Now I'm not big by any means nor am I small I'm 6"1 175lbs he had at least 100lbs on me. Well I tried pulling away and was saying get your fuckin hands off me it's not worth it get the fuck off me. When I noticed that wasn't gonna happen I blacked out and started fighting like crazy and he tries using 2 hands and then another guy comes over grabs my other arm saying cops are already on their way and a lady was on her phone. Well I'm sorry I wasn't going out like that so I trip the smaller guy over my leg twist the bigger guys arm and put it in a standing arm bar, pushed him and took the fuck off. My adrenaline was though the roof. Not proud of it. But a damn good story. So fyi yes they can put their hands on you so anyone out there please have a gameplan to get away if need be. Peace

I have been doing loss prevention for Walmart now for over one year. My two partners and I are very polite and understanding when we go and do an apprehension. We've had are runners and people who just plain ignore us. But for the most part we are able to talk them back in. I've never felt the need to put my hands on a person. They'll eventually be back. call the cops as soon as they walk in and do an apprehension with the sheriff's department along side you. See if they run then or put there hands on you.

Most circumstances of robbery and theft began in various locations where the perpetrator of the crime lives like his home, his relative's and pal's homes. These violations take place because some individuals are after the fun of obtaining other people's things.
Luckily, there is a way to quit these violationsmore info: [http://www.theftpreventionclass.com] Shoplifting and theft PREVENTION CLASS

It is unlikely that employee theft will go away anytime in the near future and every business owner works too hard to have hard earned profits walking out the door, taking loss prevention steps will help keep more of thoses hard earned dollars out of the hands of both internal and external thieves.

A number of criminals begin by stealing items that they do not even require.
These people might be stealing because they needed the money to purchase drugs or to alcohol.
The theft prevention class can help prevent the root cause of shoplifting.
There is a greater chance for the criminal to change his ways after the sessions.

Cops are cops 24/7. Its to bad alot of them are still just bad guys that carry guns legally! As I was recently at a walmart scanning my items when a crazy Hispanic woman who was on a severe Power Trip called a child that was probably running Security checks at the door to come and watch me scan my items because it appeared that I like to bag my items in a strange way which I do,I like to pack my Frozen with my Frozen, my refrigerated stuff with my refrigerated stuff,my pantry stuff with my pantry stuff you get the idea...( oh and I shop for my grandmother, and my mother!) When he came over to me and hit me in the arm to push me aside to see the scanner which left a bruise on my arm and told me I didn't scan something I was mortified he yelled at me to never f****** touch HIM again he moved out of the way of the camera to which resulted in security being called and he was violently throwing a fit got told to walk away, and I asked to file an incident report at this time I began to cry I was told I could not fill out an incident report I had to call a 1-800 number! I was beyond mortified! The two women that came up and talk to me apologized profusely and asked what they could do for me I told them they could fire that gentleman and the Hispanic woman because they were bullies! And one day they would really go to far! When my husband went in to confront the store manager, about his wife being assaulted, ( as my husband is also a store manager and knows the laws about assaulting customers when you are just assuming someone is shoplifting) he was told an incident report had been filed by myself (which it had not, i had not even spoke to this man) my husband advised me they weren't going to do anything about it and i needed to file a police report. I went in the next day to get the names of all people involved so I could go file an assault Report with the police. The police were directly called by one of the women involved, as when she saw me she grew hysterical saying she felt I was harassing her! The police did show up which is when I found out that they were in agreement this young boy could assault me if they thought just if they thought that I may be shoplifting or rather under scanning my items I'm almost 50 years old and this 18 or 19 year old boy felt the need to what amounted to punching me in the arm to push me aside to look at what is on my list which nothing had been underscanned! As some member of management saw on the video and he also advised he could not see definitely that he had assaulted me shocking of course! Nor could he see theft! I can't view the video and our local police department didn't want anything to do with it except patronize me as if I haven't been to college or have 2 degrees so now I'm at a crossroads at what to do I have been so upset I have broken out in a rash all over my back. I have my own business, and I just don't understand the treatment of people like this absolutely out of control as the officers tell me to just shop somewhere else insisting that that was the solution to not getting assaulted....REALLY, what about the next person! What about officers oath to Serve and Protect hahaha what a joke a little PostScript there was a lady that spoke to my husband when he came in saying that he should not drop it but she could not talk to him while she was on the clock if he waited for her till she was off-duty she could talk to him but that was in another hour so there is definitely something going on here in Redding California Walmart!
