Gift cards and odd comments

We have problems with gift cards all the time. The magnetic strips are EXTREMELY sensitive. They get de-magnetized all the time, especially because people leave them laying around all over the place.

To use one that won't slide in the register, I have to go over, put my key in the register, then punch in this 16-digit code on the back of the card (TWICE) and then my override numbers. And then, if they have a balance, I have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN so that the remaining balance is on a shop card that they can use without problems the next time they're in the store.

This happens at least five times a day. Wal-Mart shop cards are VERY popular. Anyway, I go over, punch in the card and get them through the register. And then I realize they had a balance. I ask if they want a new shop card.

I sign on to Register 17 and give the customer a new one. And she asks me "Are you new here?" Um, no. "Can I ask you why you asked me that?"

And her answer floored me. "Because you're so nice."

Now just what does that say about the customer service in general at our store?

They're taking applications to the new SuperCenter opening up in the northern part of the county, and within 24 hours, more than 60 people signed up to be intereviewed for transfers.

Actually, it sounds like an amusing place to be.

hey , nice blog , to fix the card , all you have to do is find a way to cool the magnetic strip , i always get tiny amount of water from some frozen food bag , and wipe the strip with it , then dry it out by waving the card fast , swipe the card , and it works !
