Running out of gas

Two hellacious nights and one adventurous day later ...

I had to do two closings, (Sunday & Monday) then turn around and open Tuesday. For the uninformed, I left at 10:30 p.m. Monday night and was back by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. And there were just two of us until 2 p.m. all day Tuesday. What fun.

Honestly, I think people damage merchandise just to see how much we'll sell it to them for. And they get angry when I won't reduce it more than 10 percent. IT IS ALREADY CHEAP. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT! It is just useless crap anyway. And then they'll argue. "But this one has spots on it."

We're getting new products in grocery to reflect the Hispanic community. The problem - the registers don't have current produce codes for some of the peppers or the other stuff, so we're having to memorize the stuff and tell the cashiers. What freaking fun!

A customer, a customer now, came up to tell me that a door greeter was talking on her cell phone. I looked down to see which person was on that door. It was one of the lazy cashiers. I investigated. Sure enough. So she got a coaching.

My next project is getting one of the lazy service desk heifers (who took a 35-minute break today) fired. I just have to get Loss Prevention to time her.

We had a few moments of levity Monday night when it slowed down some. One of the other girls got a big fake rat from toys and went around putting it on the registers. When the girls turned aroudn to get money from the till, they shrieked like banshees. One nearly yelled the store down.

I'm just really tired. Wednesday is my last day before getting two days off, so I'm just trying to make it through.

Umm... given that these people are making minimum wage, do you really expect them to give 130% every day?

Wallyworld being the subject of a sex-discrimination lawsuit at the moment, you might be providing the plantiffs with ammo throwing the word "heifer" around all the time.

Enough of my bitching. I enjoy reading your blog, keep posting & do it however you like! Someone at dailykos.com linked to your blog in a Walmart thread, so you might have a few more readers than you think. =8-o
