I'm a bag lady now

OK. You'd think Wal-Mart had enough sense to order enough of the one or two supplies we absolutely CANNOT be without in order to take care of customers, namely register tape and freaking BAGS!

The inability to secure enough shopping bags has been a recurring theme at our store. I have no clue who is ordering the things, but they come a pallet at a time, about 50 boxes to a pallet, maybe more. Anyway. Our store is super-busy, plus the cashiers waste a good many bags because the dratted things are as hard as hell to actually separate. Try the next time you're at a Wal-Mart. You'll see what I mean.

Anyway. We've had to actually go to the local Sam's and BUY freaking bags at least 6 times in the past three months because the manager in charge of ordering thinks "they don't really use that many." Um, you're an idiot.

None of the other stores will give us bags anymore, because we're ALWAYS calling to ask for them. We even had to go two counties away one time because that was the closest store that would deal with us.

So the upshot of all this is that I'm reduced to calling around on the phone this morning trying to find someone to give us bags so we won't have to schlep to Sam's and spend money for the super-cheap ones that just say "THANK YOU" and are even worse than the regular ones to deal with.

I finally track some down fifteen miles away, but they can only give us 15 boxes. Still, that's better than nothing while we pray that the delivery of bags we ordered comes in tonight.

It is just ridiculous. It is worse than last winter when we ran out of register tape and we had to hide rolls up at Customer Service just so we'd have some for ourselves. One girl had it stuck WAAAY back behind her register where you practically had to take the shelf apart to get to it. JUST ORDER ENOUGH SUPPLIES SO WE CAN DO OUR JOB.

Hey, we have the same problem at our store with the bags. Those Thank You bags from Sams are so flimsy. We had to use them during the Blitz yesterday. I am a forced cashier at Wal-Mart. They fired +/- 35 cashiers and told us sales associates, be a cashier or look for another job. They only started hiring temp help in the past fortnight. We had just one CSM on duty the other night, with ALL registers open. Glad I got off early that day. I am praying to return to my department. I can't wait to read about the Blitz experience at your store.
