We DO NOT accept SSN's only.

What we do accept is -
State Issued Driver License
Identification Cards
& finally Passports

We do NOT accept school ID's children!

Also, costumers need to realize Publix & any other Company that cashes payroll checks has the RIGHT TO DENY this service.

For a $400 dollar check Publix charges a $4 fee. If the check is fake then they have to cash 100 more just to make the amount they lost back.

Each store has different methods & limits to checks.

The first store I worked @ limit was 350 & we verified employment.

The current store I work @ we accept checks up to $500 (cooperate policy) & we will verify funds from the bank. I explain the the customers if the company you work for isn't on the list of banks that verify funds then I WILL NOT cash this check. It is very easy to make counterfeit checks. I will not explain the process as I don't want my company to lose more money :P. My advise to corporate is to STOP cashing payroll checks. Unlike Wal-Mart, are systems don't automatically deduct the amount of the check from the account written on the check. It isn't deducted until it goes to the bank the next day.shinta13https://www.blogger.com/profile/12313113252698233743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6815729.post-1159321871656981622006-09-26T21:51:00.000-04:002006-09-26T21:51:00.000-04:00In the past Wal-Mart has had a bad history with co...In the past Wal-Mart has had a bad history with complying with federal law about Social Secerity Numbers.

I remeber one time entering a local Wal-Mart there was a employee handing out a wal-mart survey. On that survey there was a space for a Social Security Number. This is illegal under Federal Law. When I mentioned this to the employee several of the other people taking the survey walked away.

Wal-mart upper management needs to think about its policy on SSN's. In the wrong hands a SSN can easly be used to destroy someone's life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6815729.post-1159320570228904102006-09-26T21:29:00.000-04:002006-09-26T21:29:00.000-04:00I wrote an e-mail to the department of Treasury a ...I wrote an e-mail to the department of Treasury a few years back about the subject of Social Security numbers.
A company that requires a Social Security Number for any reason, then the company is required to give a legal notice about the specified reason for the need of the Social Securty Number. If the notice is not given by the company at the time that it recieved the Social Security Number then the company has obtained the number illegally.

The solution for your check cashing problem is to have a placard
with the procedure of how it is done and outline all the required information required. Make the customer read it, and make sure the customr understands it.

The would clear Wal-Mart for the most part if the it became an issue at a court.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6815729.post-1159248554901248202006-09-26T01:29:00.000-04:002006-09-26T01:29:00.000-04:00I'm a manager at Publix and have worked at 5 diffe...I'm a manager at Publix and have worked at 5 different stores. If you want their $$ (cashing a check) you've got to play by their rules. If they say no passport, no passport.

Rules are changing on SS# - my insurance no longer lists my SS# as my policy, and at my place of work, SS#s are beginning to be verbotten to use.

Regardless, I daresay WalterWorld has more lawyers than my small state has people. Wal-Mart is very greedy, and I am sure that they watch every penny that changes hands in their stores. And I am also fairly certain that BBC followed the procedures for cashing checks as outlined by Wal-Mart. If the policy manual says no passports, then BBC cannot use passports, or else he would not be following company policy and would probably get fired.

It is not illegal to ask for someone's SS#. I have a loan, and I have to give my SS# every time I make a payment. That is the way the account is listed. My insurance card also lists my policy number as my SS# with a letter after it. I also have forms that I have to fill out at my job that require me to list my SS#. So I don't think that it is illegal to ask for someone's SS#.

In Louisiana, our DMV puts out State IDs for those who do not drive. They are official IDs, and they are accepted like DLs. I would think that one of those would suffice for identification. But then, I don't know what the Wal-Mart policy is about these. Probably because I'm not a pompous ass like Anonymous #2.The dykes next doorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09504241376109110774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6815729.post-1158983038303900672006-09-22T23:43:00.000-04:002006-09-22T23:43:00.000-04:00Hey dipshit, a passport is more reliable and less ...Hey dipshit, a passport is more reliable and less likely to be fake than a dl.
